Spain's midfielder Rodri finishes Manchester City's transition
The 23-year-old midfielder agreed a five-year contract, the Premier League team announced. Rodri officially became a City player on Thursday, the day after the LaLiga outfit revealed the € 70million– about £ 62.8million– discharge provision created in his four-year agreement.
" The 23-year-old joins an Atletico Madrid five-year deal and follows Angelino to become Pep Guardiola's second winter signing.
"City did not confirm the fee, but the value of the release clause eclipsed last summer's £ 60million given to Leicester for Algeria's player Riyad Mahrez.
Rodri said: "What City has accomplished in the last two years has been incredible and I look forward to being component of such a skilled team.
" It's not just the awards they've earned, but the manner they've done it, practicing football at all moments. It's a design that excites me, just like the aspirations of the club. "I can't expect to begin collaborating with Pep Guardiola and my fresh team-mates and surely we can do excellent stuff together.
" The 6'3′′ midfielder started his life as a teenage coach at Atletico before transferring to Villarreal in December 2015. He returned to Madrid in June last year for a reported £ 20million payment.
Last season he produced 47 starts for the team as they completed runners-up to Barcelona winners and eight goals ahead of Real Madrid's town competitors. City's football manager Txiki Begiristain said: "Rodri has demonstrated to be a highly skilled, youthful player with all the characteristics we're searching for.
" He operates tough defensively, allows himself accessible to obtain the object, and when in ownership, he utilizes it well.
"He's a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola's squad and we're convinced he's going to be a winner."
