BIRTHDAY HAPPY!! Star Boy, Wizkid is celebrating his 29th birthday today (Drop Your Wishes)

Wizkid was born in Surulere, a residential and commercial region of Lagos, on 16 July 1990. He grew up with twelve female siblings in an interfaith family. His mom is a Pentecostal Christian and his dad is practicing Islam.

In a radio interview with Tim Westwood in 2012, he said his dad had three wives. 
He listened to songs recorded by King Sunny Ade, Fela Kuti, and Bob Marley during his childhood. 
Wizkid began singing at the age of 11 and moved to the stage name Lil Prinz until 2006. Wizkid outlined his life in a nutshell during an interview with Adesope of Factory 78 TV. 
He said with a few of his church mates he created a band called the Glorious Five. 
Before disbanding, the group managed to publish an album. Wizkid later encountered OJB Jezreel, a record producer who had prevented him from recording for a year. 
While commonly visiting OJB's PointBeat Studios, he watched 2 Face Idibia record songs For his album Grass 2 Grace. 
He was also present during the recording sessions for the debut album of Sound Sultan, Jagbajantis. 
quoted Naeto C as one of the individuals who mentored and coached him when he was 15 years old. Wizkid also informed Factory 78 TV that from the beginning his parents were not receptive to his music. 
To earn the confidence of his father, he had to work hard and spend a lot of time in the studio. 
Wizkid co-wrote Banky W's "Omoge You Too Much," a song from The W Experience album. 
He also worked in the development of his craft with Naeto C, OJB Jezreel, Ikechukwu, and M.I. Wizkid inked a record deal with the Empire Mates Entertainment of Banky W.'s in 2009. 
He attended grammar school in Ijebu Ode. 
He fell out of Lagos State University (LASU) in mid-2009 to concentrate on his craft. 
He later attended the University of Lead City but fell out after finishing two courses.
